2026 Summer Internship - Storyboard Artist
137 Ewes Productions is a wildly imaginative animation and comics studio where animals take center stage. We are constantly discovering more about our characters and world — and we want to do that with you.
If you are serious about storyboarding as a craft, this is your role. We go deep — camera angles, shot types, action sequences, dialogue-heavy scenes, rhythm, lighting, and the full visual language of telling a story in motion. You will board real sequences for real characters and real stories, get real feedback, and contribute to work that will most likely be published. No busy work. Just storyboarding with intention.

Application Deadline March 10th, 2026 at 11:59pm PST
If the LinkedIn application closes before the deadline, apply directly on our website at: https://www.137ewes.com/storyboard-intern-app.html
Application Steps Before applying, please complete the following — incomplete applications will not be considered:
- Subscribe to the Baapolis Substack: https://kopernicus.substack.com/ — this gives you a feel for the world you'll be working in and prepares you for your interview
- Apply on LinkedIn or directly on our website
- Have a portfolio website (not Instagram, not social media, not Google Drive) that clearly features your storyboarding work — sequences, beat boards, animatics, and a demonstrated understanding of camera, composition, and visual storytelling. Your portfolio link — including any passwords — must be visible on your resume and LinkedIn profile. We should not have to hunt for it.
Responsibilities Interns will be assigned to either the animated shorts team or the team developing a full 22-minute episode. Work includes:
- Using your understanding of visual storytelling to draft sequences for assigned scenes
- Rough beat boards and thumbnails
- Refined drafts and detailed panels
- Bringing characters alive through emotion and physicality in dialogue-heavy scenes
- Breaking down and deliberating action sequences
- Delivering a full animatic of your assigned scene by end of internship — 3 minutes minimum, 5 minutes is the standard expectation
- Attending weekly check-in meetings twice a week
Qualifications
- Strong grasp of perspectives, camera angles, and shot types in film and animation
- Thorough understanding of animation and composition principles
- Strong draftsmanship and drawing skills
- Strong grasp of human poses and bipedal actions
- Understanding of animal behaviors and actions — or a genuine passion to learn
- Ability to express a wide range of emotions effectively in thumbnail fashion
- Experience using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro
- Strong time management — ability to meet assignment deadlines
- Wild creativity in composition, rhythm, and lighting to enhance the story you are assigned to
- Unique perspectives demonstrated through your portfolio
- Ability to absorb and implement verbal, written, and draw-over feedback effectively
- Storytelling ability from a narrative point of view — a plus (experience writing screenplays, designing beats, and planning a story from beginning to end)
- Currently enrolled as a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a BFA program (ideally Storyboarding, Sequential Art, and/or Animation), or enrolled in a comparable MFA program — enrollment must be verified after acceptance
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- This internship is curriculum and assignment based — you will have a clear pace, real goals, and proud work to show at the end
- We assess your pace in the first two weeks and work with you from there — we are not expecting industry standards, you are still learning and we are patient
- You decide how much you want to challenge yourself
- Work produced during the internship goes directly into your portfolio — though you will sign an NDA and keep work in a password protected area of your website
- Academic credit is strongly encouraged — we can customize the internship structure to meet your school's credit requirements
- This internship is unpaid
Nationality & Location
- You may reside anywhere in the world during the summer — our internships are designed for cross-cultural collaboration
- International applications are warmly welcome; conversational English is required for co-working with other interns
- No visa required — but active school enrollment is required
